Smart Style Winners

Each meeting, the student PTSA selects winners from all who received tickets from their teachers. So far we have had 40 students win a prize including such things as: sit at the special lunch table with friends, leave for lunch early, zoom during lunch with friends, and get a free snack from the snack line.

Keep showing that smart style: PRIDE-RESPECT-ATTITUDE-DETERMINATION.

Don’t forget that we are in the third quarter, so students who want to achieve this quarter’s goal should be reading and recording 400 pages in books at their level. They must fill out the form and submit it to the office. Students on OUR PATH may submit a digital copy to Mrs. Quinn-Haver:

by the due date of March 19th. Here is the form if needed: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cRbMupBQqFUF2BgaeM8UqHdT3ZtBblBhPNavKwrYBlM/copy

Interested students may submit by 2/26 to the Smart Style Classroom in classwork - find the choice board post - https://classroom.google.com/c/MjQxNDYwMjczMDY4?cjc=4l653mj

Unfortunately, Smart is losing out on thousands of dollars we can use for special projects because BT4E has gone digital. Instead of clipping the box top and sending them to school to be counted and delivered to the company, we must now use the digital system. PLEASE help by downloading the app – registering for Smart: 574931.

Please make this part of your weekly shopping routine. Here is a quick slideshow to highlight how easy it is to help out! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1kTQoOhlrk6FsUb706kSNHpNR_Pf2rxCJVXMBwXgWLek/edit?usp=sharing

PTSA Goal Achievement Program

Have you heard about the GAP Program? This program allows your children to achieve one goal in citizenship, academics, reading and community service during each marking period. Students who complete all four goals during their three years at Smart are honored during their 8th grade year. The goal for each marking period is outlined below:

1st Marking period goal: Citizenship

2nd Marking period goal: GPA

3rd Marking period goal: Reading Completion

4th marking period goal: Community Service

**For the first two marking periods, students will automatically obtain their goal if they qualify. For the last two marking periods, students will need to complete and turn in the appropriate forms by the dates listed.

Community Service Information:

All students are to complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service to qualify for the 4th marking period goal. Students can accumulate the hours throughout the entire year. Due to Covid-19 and our virtual learning situation, community service hours may look different this year. We will honor hours that involve household chores, assisting younger siblings with online learning/homework, helping around the house or yard, etc.

The reading and community service sheets can be accessed here:

PTA Reflections Contest, 2020

Have you told your child how much they matter? Does your child understand how much they matter? Why they matter? What do they see when they look at themselves? What qualities can they share with others? Everybody matters, and confidence in knowing why they matter is such an amazing quality to have, in itself. This has been a tough year so far, and it is a great time to reflect on why each of us matters. Give your kids a chance to show what they see when they express why they matter, through art.

We are asking parents to encourage kids to consider participating in the 2020 - 2021 National PTA Reflections Program. The theme this year is, "I Matter Because...". This provides your child with the opportunity to show what they find when they look deep within themselves. Kids can enter:

Visual arts

MORE WORK?? No!  Students are able to use projects from their art class, writings from their literature classes, or any other projects they are working on in school that would apply to the theme.  Many teachers at the school have offered to help out by reviewing work prior to submission!

This year's theme is: I matter because......

Due Date: Nov 13, 2020
